Nana Music - Bio of the rap artist, singer, producer
Nana ‘Darkman’ Abrokwa born in Accra, Ghana is one of Germany’s most successful rappers who
made a lot of noise in the business with his albums “NANA – The Album” (1997) and “Father” (1998).
He sold seven million records worldwide of his Booya Music produced Albums released via Motor
Music (Universal) he received two Echo Awards and two VIVA Comet Awards among others.
But NANA did not limit himself to the microphone as far as showing his skills goes. In the early 90s, he
participated in two German movies: “Fernes Land Pa-ish” and the theater debut of Germany’s
successful director Lars Becker “Schattenboxer”.
After the Booya Records music label split up, the Darkman ventured out to make new experiences.
This lead to him hosting a radio show on Radio NRJ and NANA also worked several years as an A&R
at Universal Music Hamburg and EMI Music Publishing Germany.
In April 2004, the Darkman won his boxing duel at the third RTL Celebrity Boxing event. Of course he
provided his own entrance music for the fight (“Butterfly”). He had quite some experience in this area
since he provided the official entrance themes for Axel Schulz (“He’s Comin’” – 1997) and Dariusz
Michaelczewski (“Be All You Can Be” – 2000).
In Early 2008, NANA’s vocals appeared in the song used for the official Kinder Maxi King TV
commercial.
During all this time, Nana ‘Darkman’ Abrokwa obviously never stopped producing and recording
music. The results can be heard on September 5, 2008 when his new double album “12 Y.O.” will be
released worldwide on Darkman Records in cooperation with the online distributor KontorNewMedia in
all download stores.

Der in Accra, Ghana geborene Nana ‚Darkman‘ Abrokwa ist einer der erfolgreichsten Rapper
Deutschlands, der die Branche mit seinen Alben „NANA – The Album“ (1997) und „Father“ (1998)
gehörig aufmischte. Weltweit brachte er über sieben Millionen Tonträger unter die Menschen, die noch
heute als Glanzstücke ihrer Zeit geachtet werden. Ausgezeichnet wurde er für seine beiden von
Booya Music produzierten und bei Motor Music (Universal) veröffentlichten Alben mit u.a. zwei Echos
und zwei VIVA Cometen.
Doch nicht nur am Mikrofon hat NANA sein können bewiesen. Anfang der 90er Spielte er in zwei
deutschen Kinofilmen mit. Darunter „Fernes Land Pa-ish“ und das Kinodebüt von Erfolgsregisseur
Lars Becker, der „Schattenboxer“.
Nachdem sich Booya Records auflöste suchte Nana sich neue Gefilde um neue Eindrücke zu
sammeln. So moderierte er Zeitweise bei Radio NRJ und war mehrere Jahre bei Universal Music
Hamburg und EMI Music Publishing Germany als A&R tätig.
Im April 2004 ging der Darkman siegreich aus seinem Duell im 3. RTL Promi Boxen hervor. Hierzu
steuerte er natürlich seine eigene Einmarschhymne („Butterfly“) bei. Durch die offiziellen Hymnen für
Axel Schulz („He’s Comin‘“ – 1997) und Dariusz Michaelczewski („Be All You Can Be“ – 2000)
sammelte NANA in dem Bereich bereits einige Erfahrung!
NANA steuerte außerdem im Frühjahr 2008 seine Stimme zum Song des offiziellen Kinder Maxi King
Werbespots bei.
In all dieser Zeit hat Nana ‚Darkman‘ Abrokwa natürlich weiterhin Musik produziert und aufgenommen.
Das Ergebnis daraus kann ab dem 5. September 2008 via Weltweiter Veröffentlichtung seines neuen
Doppelalbums „12 Y.O.“ über Darkman Records in Kooperation mit dem Online Distributor
KontorNewMedia in allen Downloadshops erstanden werden.
